when doing material takeoffs for walls will Revit calculate the number of studs for a wall? I want to know how many studs, length of headers, seal plates, etc. for a wall.  The only thing I can find is square feet for that wall.

Revit OOTB will not calculate the number of studs for a wall.  You, however, can create a Wall schedule and add a Calculated value:  Number of studs = (Wall Length/ 16") + 1

Of course, this formula does not work for every condition so you have to add another factor for overhead such as 10%, 15% etc.

Some people suggest building the framing using curtain wall so that you can count the mullions.  It will take a lot of work but it is a possibility.

There are several extensions but I personally have no experiences with any of them.

Thank you for info.  I new there were framing programs you have to pay for.  I will try the wall schedule.  will this give you stud length when walls are attached to roof peaks, etc. or still only get square foot?  do you have to draw a second wall on top of your 8' wall to go to the peak?

Good question.  Walls can attached to sloped roofs or floors above and below.

But the formula I gave earlier only works for walls with constant height.  For the wall with sloped you would need to actually build the studs in order to get the accurate length for each one.  Below is an example using curtain wall and curtain mullion schedule.  Again, doing this in OOTB Revit takes a lot of work for real projects.  If you need to do it frequently I suggest you look into one of the paid extension.

Material take off doesn't work if you are a spammer.

Do you know if there is a way to combine the same materials into one row instead of listing them in each individual location?
