Material Tag

Hello,

Why do material tags change from displaying the correct information to a questions mark? Is there a way to keep material tags from moving, in other words "pin" the material tag to the wall/material you are tagging so if the wall moves the material tag moves and continues displaying the correct information?

Thanks for your help!

The tag will pick up information from the categories it is associated with.

Have you checked your parameters? Check to see if the Shared Parameter you have used to create your tag has also been added to your Project Parameters. If it's still there, make sure it's stil a Material parameter and is still associated to materials.

A Material Tag does lose their association with its host when the center of the Tag (without a leader), or the end of its leader falls outside of the host.  So if a host got moved, the tag will move along.   But if a host got stretched, the tag may lose its association and shown with ?.

I am not sure how to overcome this, except for keeping the tag or its leader closed to the center of the host object.

Thank you for your response.

I was trying out a few things in Revit to gather examples, and here is one instance of when the material tag changes into a question mark.

EX: If I have a wall with a material assigned to it, and add a material tag, it reads correctly. If I split the wall for instance, the tags automatically shift to          a side and display question marks. Is there a way to avoid the tags shifting away on their own?
