Material quantity as property set

Material quantity as property set

I am currently a student at a college in Norway, working on adapting a Revit model to people who work with brick, concrete and tile.

One of the things I want to do, is beeing able to click on a wall and get all the material quantities, such as amount of bricks, amount of mortar, area of both strings etc. Same goes for bathrooms, concrete walls with rebar and so on.

Any suggestions?

Per now, I have made a simple schedule with the brickwalls in the project, and calculated the amount of bricks and mortar with a Calculated Parameter. If this could be used in some way, that would be neat.

Would also be open to any other ideas in this regard, I aim to export an IFC to a handheld device and use this on a worksite, with these quantities available.

Use "Mark". Every instance may have that identifier. Then, add that as your schedule field. Play with sorting and grouping, you can hide that field and just keep it as a header. Also, I recommend you set all areas&volumes to "calculate totals".

Can you explain a bit more detailed on how to proceed with this solution? I added a new Field with Mark, this is empty for now.

I would like to have several properties containing number of bricks/tiles, kg's of mortar, adhesives, etc. Is this possible to do with this solution?

Hi,

For better control and estimation you can use add on plugin " Roombook Areabook Building book" it will automatically generate into excel.

Thanks for the tip, but I do not have a subscription for this one. I tried to download it but says subscription only. Currently on a school subscription, using Revit 2019.2, the only one available at the autodesk app store is the 2016 version. Is this one compatible?

Now, I'm not sure if I understood your question... I thought you want this material take-off for every element instance (like, you "click on the wall and then get all the quantities..." You click on the wall, then give "Mark" value in instance properties of the wall. Then you can use that to create sorting and grouping in a schedule.

Use any of the available fields and if you cant find some that you want, simply create calculated values.
