Master Drawing Register - Linking Linked Models Sheets into One Drawing Register

Hi,

I’m looking for some advice on the best approach to creating a master drawing register in Revit.

I’m currently working on a project with six cottages; each modelled in separate Revit files. One master model has been set up with all six linked into it. Ideally, I’d like to produce a single drawing register covering all six cottages.

Could you advise on the most effective way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Ross

Start by defining what the drawing set is to look like either by checking the BEP or referencing the local requirements set forth by the AHJ.

Make the sheet views, floor plans, sections, details, schedules, etc..

Make the sheets and place the views on the sheets.

Would this solution mean having to set my drawings back up on a sheet in the master model ?

Is their no way to Link a sheet into another project ?

Thanks for your help!

I don't know. I think it can be done but I've never done it. You didn't find out if it were possible before you set it up with this objective in mind?

@rossLA922

If the sheets are created for each cottage in its own model/Link;  When you create a sheet list in the model simply check the option "Include elements in Links"

  • Optional: Give the links a name for you to identify which Link the Sheets on the register are pulled from example "Cottage Type C1A"

See GIF BELOW

Sheets_Drawing Register including Links sheets.gif

You can insert sheets from the link into your Main/host model only if they do not contain Model Views...they can contain drafting views, details, reports, legends and/or schedules (or empty of course) - if schedules are using share project parameters, they will repopulate in the main model...however, if this is the route you are following, then in the main model you need to make sure to uncheck the include elements from link in the inserted schedule otherwise it will double list items. (example: as the sheet gets inserted it will be part of the host model....keep include elements from links checked in this case will list the sheet C102 from the example below twice.

  • If they are in the link, keep them in the link and use method 1
  • Inserting all into the host requires more attention
