Massing and Topo Surface

Hello, when I create a mass, by creating forms with splines, the mass doesn't have thickness, I know that I can create roofs, floors or walls with it and edit the materials so I can get the thickness I want, but sometimes Revit doesn't allow me to create either of those. What I want to know is how can I add a thickness to the mass and simply add a material to it so that ot is a solid.
My other question is about the toposurface, and it's similar. When I create one, it doesn't have a thickness. I know how to simulate the thickness on elevations and sections by configurating the graphics, but when I'm on a 3D view or when I want to render, it doesn't have a thickness and I have seen renders elaborated in Revit where the toposurface does have a thickness, so those are my questions. I am currently using Autodesk Revit 2016.
Thanks and I'll wait for your answer!

Hi,
For the massing part :

Creating a form with a non closed single line or lines will result a shell (No thickness)
However creating a closed shapes will result in a thicknessed mass

So:

To make it with thickness you have to make an offset of the spline and close it (image attached)

Spline.png

Then when you create form it will have thickness.

the Toposurface part :
To have a thickness you have to use a section box and make it cut the toposurface from it's edges to get it.
To change the cut material you have to go to site settings, (There place is very tricky) It's in the massing and site tab .. a little arrow is under the building pad command > go for it .> section cut material is defaulted to Earth.. you can change it from there.
