Several ways.

  • Roof by Extrusion
  • Stack two roofs with different cutoffs
  • Roof by (mass) face

That's not a Mansard. That's a Gambrel.

This is basically what I see:

Ok , thank you very much . Does it mean that this roof has to be constructed with 4 roofs?

That would be my approach. Separate Roofs as shown. And based on what I'm seeing in your Screenshot, you're going to have more than 4 roofs.

Just model it the way it will be constructed.  Seems to me from your screenshots that you understand the construction pretty well. Model it that way.

Thank you again. Yes , I understand the construction but I am not fluent in Revit and I do this gambler roof for the first time.

I still fight with my gambler roof . One more question:

1.how to join properly all  different parts of roof ?

As I said, Roof By Extrusion.

I wouldn't do a Roof by Extrusion.

It looks joined now, although it's framed incorrectly IMO/E. The way I see it, the Gambrel is structural and being carried by the interior wall top plate (or a floor), and that popout roof ties into the Gambrel roof above the interior plate and rests on an exterior wall that looks more like an architectural popup than a bearing wall.

Something like this:

Thank you for your advice  but I am afraid I can not to do it by extrusion . I think it should be done by footprint  and consists of  a few roofs at different angle . I simply don't know how to join them properly at different angle . Wat's more I am not sure if this way is right?

Thank you for another advice  although I am afraid if I understood it well . Would you be so kind to comment my questions:

1. I should to do all roof by footprint?

2.All the roof should consist of several the same roofs joned at different angle ?

3. I do not know how to join them properly?

I don't understand where you are struggling.  What do you mean when you say you "do not know how to join them properly"?

Screenshot shows four Roofs. Two of them were created using a Cutoff Level. Learn more here:

Roof by extrusion is a legitimate tool in Revit so I don't get why you say you shouldn't use it.  Use it then you don't have to be concerned about multiple roofs and joining them.  But if you feel like to be doing it the hard way then feel free to stay suffering.

I don't think the OP means join as in Join Geometry.

 Hi ,

I am sruggling with it becouse I do it for the first time  &would like to find the best way for this roof.My attached example was done by footprint and cut off level . Unfortunatelly it doesn't look well on section. The main central  slope part was done using 2 layers of roof. More or less model is not so bad but section is unaccetable by me. any tips ?
