Hello!

A co-worker of mine asked if i can make a family that acts like a wall.

Lets say we have a room that have a turning circle for wheel chairs, and if a wall for some reason suddenly overlap the turning circle you wil recive a warning, like you do when two walls overlap.

Is it possible to achieve?
Mayby easier to do in dynamo but not many of my co-workers use it.

Sounds like you are wanting to do an Interference Check. You could model the "turning circle" in a family (e.g. as an extrusion for instance) and the place the family in the project.  Run Interference Check (Collaborate Tab) and check Wall Category and the Category of the "turning circle" Family.  Revit will report all instances where the two come in contact with each other in the Project.

  • First in Family editor , make a Clearance Zone by creating a subcategory of the object as shown in this example (thanks to DougBower):

https://aectechtalk.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/clearance-zones-in-revit-families-part-1/

  • then once loaded into the Project , use Interference Check, as shown in AKN example
