Maintenance Plan Updates to Perpetual License

Good Afternoon,

We recently renewed our maintenance plan subscription to our Revit LT 2015 perpetual license.

I see in our Autodesk dashboard under "our products" tab that we have a new serial number and product key for Revit LT 2016, did we receive this update to the Revit LT 2016 because we renewed our perpetual license maintenance plan? I want to be sure Revit 2016 is legitimately ours before I begin modeling, only to find out it expires (or something of the sort), then I cannot work on my files in our previous Revit LT 2015.

If the maintenance plan did give us an upgraded licesnse to use Revit LT 2016, I was just unaware that the maintenance plan would do so.

Thank you,

Kerianne

Hello @info

I know that feeling! "I won't believe it untill they give it in writen" 🙂 but unfortunately this is more of a user forum for Revit ... I think you would get a more reliable response if you directly contact support. You can do this either/or of the following:

  1. Schedule a Direct Call SEE LINK HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS
    • As you have mentioned that you have a maintenance plan sybscription and since you are subscribed to LT product (which either ways entitles you since February 2016 to use the Schedule a Call service
  2. Through your Account Management Page - Log a Support Case
  3. Post your question on Installation & Licensing and tag one of the Community Managers listed there for quicker attention

Thats one of the big features of the maintenance plan - you automatically get access to the newest release as they come out.  You don't need to install it but if you do, you'll need to update your licensing for the new serial number and product code.  Another benefit of the maintenance plan is you can run up to 3 previous versions of a product (so right now you could run 2016, 2015, and 2014).

Note that if you discontinue maintenance you will be left with the last version you were entitled to, and updating to a new version is considered a new purchase.  In that case you will only have access to the Desktop and network rental model license types.

Have a look here if you need to convert to the new license model (brace for impact - some of the posting is strictly venting, others not so nice): https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/perpetual-license-changes/bd-p/2015
