hi there im currently using a file with multiple models loaded in, I have had to turn off some gridlines to stop me getting overlapping grids, but now I cant move the ones that are left, as at the minute they are too far away from model, any ideas thanks

Investigate understanding and using these things:

-Copy/Monitor for Grids ( and Levels and other items if needed.) when using linked files.

-Scope Boxes (and/or Propogate Extents) for control of Grids

-Understand 2D and 3D extents of grids

The expected process is that each project has its own set of grids, usually based on the architect's or structural engineer's model. The process @cbcarch mentioned called Copy/Monitor provides a way to acquire the other discipline's model quickly (Copy) and then let Revit watch these grids for changes (Monitor). For example, if the source model's grids change their name or position you'll get a warning (during file open or reloading a link) that yours are now different than the source grids.

Filters can be used to manage the visibility of Grids, yours versus theirs. I name my own grids so that it is unlikely the those in linked models have the same name. For example if I work for ABC Engineering I might use Grid-ABC for the Grid Type Name. This allows me to create a filter that lets me hide all grids that don't match that name.

I use a View Template to to apply the Filter to all of the view types that get put on sheets for documentation.

Scope Boxes can help manage the extents of Grids (and Level) in views as well as the crop boundary of views.

Hi @Anonymous

That was a good, detail explanation by @SteveKStafford

As the first step, I recommend you get familiar with the whole concept of using grids in Revit and creating scope boxes , view templates, and filters in Revit.

Check out this video on how to copy-monitor grids and AKN article on Copy/Monitor Parameters for Grids

Hope that helps.
