Location lines missing

Not applicable

hi, I'm using 2020.2 and I'm facing a confusing problem with location lines of beams and column.

In the family if I edit it, I can see the subcategory Location Line but if I create any lines using that subcat those lines will disappear

In the project if I go to visibility graphics and look under structural framing and structural columns I cannot find the location line subcategory.

How can I get that subcategory to be visible if I cannot find it to check the box?

These lines are just turned off in Visibility Graphics I think in family and project?

Maybe check your object styles in project if the subcat is there? Really ought to be there I think... if not try to transfer objects styles from the family? (manage, transfer project standards (object styles) ) See if that helps.

@martijn_pater I couldn't find them in objects style too. In this article below, it is mentioned that they are under structural framing in visibility graphics but they are not

I meant check VG/obj styles in the family when you edit the family, not the project. But perhaps you did try that... Maybe it could be the representation by family setting? You could share the family to try and reproduce the issue on a different workstation.

I checked in the family there is a subcategory location line but as I said if I try to use it all the lines set to show as location line disappear

I didn't make the family it is in revit library. I tried all structural columns and beams it is the same. I cannot show location lines

I am not a structural guy so I rarely dig too much around structural stuff...I have just checked and from what it seem, this option is not in version 2020. It is still there in version 2019 though.

Maybe you could check on the structural forum, maybe some guys there are more up to date on subject matter stuff related to structural issues/bugs/changes...etc

Edit:

Below is from Revit 2019 ...and looking at the image you posted, it looks like there are other missing subcategories  compared to RVT2019 and RVT2020...maybe they relocated to another category

No it is supposed to be under model category tab but I did check under analytical and it is not there either.

Maybe someone with 2020.2 can check to see if it my deployment which is corrupt or if simply the option is not there anymore

It is weekend and I have access only to 2019...I will check how it looks like on 2020 tomorrow when I'm at the office and will let you know

Why are they so important to show anyway? I mean unless there is some specific purpose you need them for, you can just show analytical elements instead and if you want to adjust you can give a "y-Justification"

it must be the 2020.2 which he is using then … either corrupt, Autodesk missed out on them or removed them for some good reason

So what should I do in this case? I can't uninstall now that will be a mess.

Is there a place to report such things? Or is there anyone from Autodesk here to ask if they will fix or if it will remain like this?

Did you try transfering object styles from your family to the project? No idea if that works here, if it does nothing perhaps you could try a repair install? I have 2020.2, location lines subcategory shows in VG (as it should?)...
