Links disappear and then links double up

We are having big issue. workshared Revit files on BIM 360. Multi links with engineers.

The links are disappearing, then show back up doubled with the second link lower in the Z direction.

This is not someone changing links, 2 staff and I watched this happen on the screen. It is some time of glitch, we tried Audit to fix, it did audit- but not luck.

Is there any way to have Autodesk look at the file or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Watching on the screen, as in your working and it just happens? Not after a sync or reload?

Can you share some screen captures? Are you sure it is an actual duplicate and not a graphics card/drive issue generating it? What do you see in Manage Links after it happens? When people unload a link are they choosing the unload for all option? Is there an extents issue with the project (model very far from the internal origin)?

Could be Graphics card – But I doubt it, because we have 5 people (5 video cards) working the BIM360 shared model and all 5 are seeing the links disappear then reappear some with doubled links.  You can see the links in the 3D Isometric views, 2 mechanical links show up, one above the other. The internal origin is only 10’ from the building.

There was an odd #5 #6 listed in a few of the links, it looked like the attached – NOTE this is not our message but found this on internet looking for solution. We have our REVIT off right now while BIM Mang is reviewing.

Is there any way to pay Autodesk to open the model and review? (Literally have a deadline tomorrow, no joke).

The top level link is THE link definition in the database, each one listed beneath is the Instance of a link placed somewhere in the model. So there are two instances of that link present in your model. That's not an "offense", copying links is one strategy for managing repetition so each link listed beneath could a Villa design location 1 and the other location 2...for the same design in different locations.

However if there is only supposed to be one instance then you should find where the other instance is located. Normally overriding a link at the top level is sufficient, no reason to also override the individual instance...unless like mentioned earlier you actually need copies of the link and they each need to look different.

Yes you can engage with Autodesk for support but it's been many hours since our exchange started and your deadline is looming no? A response from Autodesk might not happen until next week, in particular dependent on where you are and which support team gets involved. You can start something in the Autodesk Admin page and use their Chat Bot to get the "conversation" underway. Eventually it can escalate to a phone call, web meeting, inviting them to the ACC project etc. or sending them your files, journals etc. This is stuff your BIM mgr is probably already familiar with though since you mentioned that person getting involved. First thank you Steve Stafford and mhiserZFHXS for trying to help!

I appreciate the time you spend posting.

We could not fix the issue, we went to try the previous published model (earlier in the day) but no luck had the same issue.

We could not see the model that was published day before on WED.  I know I did publish it, because I had someone standing behind me when I did it, but we could not find this WED version?

BIM manager ended up having to unlink and reattach Engineers links from scratch. Which was painful as all the linked objects lost their custom settings to turn off things that we did not need to show up in our Architecture views. Some of the off/on was taken care of quickly with saved view templates, BUT any objects that were turn off individually or had their individual lines turned into different line types (continuous to hidden), all had to be redone. A team of us worked from 5pm to 1am Thursday getting the model/views back to where we already were. The project was due on Friday.  Tough couple of days.

****But we saved the older files in order to research what went wrong and make sure we do not let it happen again.

How do we have an Autodesk Revit Guru look at the linked files?

You can reach out to me in a message and see how we can share files. Can't promise I'll find anything to blame but I can look. If you follow my prior email's advice you can get Autodesk to look at the project too, just have to be patient enough to go through the "hoops" to get it escalated to a person for support.

A link instance could be copied by accident easily and without a warning if you do not use shared coordinates.  Simply delete the copied instance of the link and move on.  Explore shared coordinates so that the link location is properly recorded and Revit will gives you warning when a link instance is being copied or moved.
