Linking Area Plan to Rooms / multi-building models

Hi,

I have created a normal area plan that has gross room areas. Next, I created a dynamo script which collected the room names and renamed the AreaTag names to have the room names.

This works fine; however, there must be a better workflow than making a dynamo script. Is there anyway to link areas to rooms? I understand that Revit does not create a relationship between rooms due to a variety of reasons.

Also, if I have a model with multiple buildings and want to create different area plans for each buildings on the site, would creating worksets containing at least the walls of the different buildings be a way to create separate area plans for each building?room area.PNG

Thank you!

HI,

It is be something that you can do with API.

But I'll need to now exactly what your goal is. Areas are usually regions of the project that contains more than one room, I can't understand why you need an Area for each Room, if it is only for of different ways of calculating the Rooms' area please check the extensions roombook and areabook, maybe you'll find there a simple solution for what you need.

Use Spaces instead of Rooms and Zones instead of Areas.
