Linked Model Not Visible

We are using Revit Architecture 2016. My consultant's model is no longer showing the linked architectural model in elevation. If the view window extents are pulled beyond the extents of the building, it suddenly appears (obviously not helpful for interior elevations). When I turn on hidden elements, I can see the architectural model, but if I select it, I can't unhide it. I have checked the workset, the phase, the detail level. It shows up in plan just fine. They are not using any view templates. No graphic overrides. 

I am stuck as to what is causing this.

Check the far clipping of the elevation/section view...

Far Clipping Parameter in section and elevation views will always be displayed according to the settings of the host view and not the settings of the linked view settings, even when the link is set to be displayed using the By Linked View option.

i thought i had checked that. attached are screen shots of the properties and the elevation tag (in plan). even if i change it to say, 500, the building doesn't show up. am i missing what you are saying?

You mentioned that when you pull the extents beyond building limits the linked elevation appear. Hence the issue is with the clipping in the Host view. Try it out without cliping or extend beyond walls.. If that works then you need to find the clipping range which allows you to see it...If the elvations are partial and you don't want to remove far clipping for some reason in that view, a scope box might help

I was having this same problem and found this thread,

I didn't have any success with the clipping RDAOU described unfortunately, but what he said about the scope boxes made me look at the model i was linking to and i found that if i deleted the scope boxes in the reference model (the link model) then the visibility issues were fixed in the main/working model.

If you change the "Far Clipping" to either "No clipping" or "Clip without line" the linked models elevations should show without having to fully encapsulate the linked model within the "Far Clip Offset"
