Linked IFC graphics issue (extra lines)

Hi,

I'm having some problems with a linked IFC file and perhaps the answer is out there.

I've recieved an IFC file from a structural consultant and when I link it into Revit it shows up kind of weird. See the attached screenshots. In Revit it shows some extra lines which might be some kind of representation of certain bars reference axis. What do you think? Any ideas about what might cause this?

I checked the IFC file in both SimpleBIM and BIMCollab and none of those softwares showed the unwanted lines. So I'm assuming the IFC is fine and that the problem lies within Revit.

I searched the forums but didn't find any answers. I'd appreciate being directed to relevant posts.

Can you use the linework tool to turn them into invisible lines?  Not sure if this works with an IFC file.

I can't "enter" the IFC file i Revit and edit its contents, so I can't change the lines.

I suspect that this has to do with the ifc mapping options.
Don't forget that IFC is just a general file format that basically is a step file.

When you work with ifc we often work with a MVD (Model View Definition) Saying what parts of the model do I want to Share or see when I create an IFC export.

You could try modifying the IFC import options. For more information click here.

I suspect that it is the analytical sticks that are popping up.

Try and switch it off in the REVIT file or structures need to model it correctly.
