Linked File Disappears

Hi All

We have been working (worksharing) with this project for months, several linked files containing structural, M&E and landscape models.

Every day a number of users open the file with no issues until this week when people started to complain about a message everytime they open the file saying that one link is missing.

It is the structural model, the file has not changed in weeks, the location is the same, and basically all the other Revit links are saved in the same zone in the server; but the structural model keeps loosing its route and we have to manually reload from and search from the file.

It wasn't a big deal until Today, after a few hours of working the file disappears suddenly.

It is very annoying and I cannot see that being a server problem because all the other links are in the same place.

2 possibilities. 

1. If the link keeps being 'not found' it might be renamed or relocated on your server. We use alot of links and have had similar issues with people renaming folders or files in the past and screwing everyone else up. 

2. Try chaning your pathing to absolute rather than relative. I know I might get some flack for that, but It makes a difference for us. I could be wrong, but our thinking is that the use of an 'absolute path' makes your local file look to the server first to find the linked file, rather than having to resolve the path from looking at the central file.

Thanks cpalm. I ended up saving a copy of the mischievous file and redirecting the link into that file. After closing and opening again my and my colleagues' windows session the file no longer gave any problems.
