Linked cad file remains displayed even when link is unloaded

I'm working with Revit 2016 and have attached several AutoCad files as backgrounds on a multi-story building we are modeling. I have not imported these files. When I unload the files they seem to grey out but do not disappear. I first noticed this working on a level, when I underlayed the level below, a linked file showed up with the underlayed file. The only way I'm finding to avoid this is to remove the link entirely. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks,

Could replicate this virtually in an entire class.
Disabling all linked layers in VG would also remove the "shadow"

try turning off the hardware accelerator under options>graphics, save, close, and reopen.  also check if video card driver is current.

Turning the hardware accelerator off worked. I also had an alert showing that I needed to update my video driver so I did so and the alert is gone. Unfortunately with the updated driver the problem has returned whether I have 3d accel on or off!?!! Both my graphics card and driver are Revit 16 compatible.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to view the screencast, but it sounds like an issue that is currently under investigation by our development team:

My solution to the same problem was under the Properties, change the Underlay Range: base Level to NONE.  If I needed to see the ghost again, just switch back to FF.  Hope this helps.

Are there any other resolutions? I use underlay a lot to align geometry on different levels of the building, but now all my unloaded CAD links show up when I turn on an underlay. I am working in Revit 2016 and I have all the linked CAD files on a CAD workset, have the workset turned off, and the drawing files still show up when an underlay is on.

I'm not sure if this issue was ever resolved but here's a fresh take on it. When I had the same issue, even though I had unloaded all links from the project there was one link still appearing on a RCP and I was unable to click on it. Through trial and error I managed to remove it under VG and Imported Categories, I expanded all links and 'unticked' all the subcategories. This seemed to do the trick, hope this helps someone!

Thank you for the reply. I have solved the issue since posting it. For
me, in the Properties, under the Underlay, The Range:Base Level was set to
FF. Once I switched it to None, the ghosted image went away.
