Link Cad to FOREGROUND

When brining in autocad details to revit using Insert \ Link CAD, the detail always defaults to the background.  Is there a way to make the cad details come into revit into the FOREGROUND?

What kind of view are you linking the CAD into? Are you saying that you're linking the CAD drawing into a Drafting View and that you don't have the Background/Foreground option in link's properties (under Draw Layer)?

In a 3" scale detail view of a smaller scale section (works same in the smaller section) I bring in a cad detail from a manufacturer.  All works fine except the detail defaults to the background and you have to scroll all around to find a spot with no model objects so you can see the thing, then select and change from "background" to "foreground".   Also, I'd think there would be a utility to read the lightweights from the .dwg and bring them in the .rvt.  So the whole process is a bit clunky.

I note a page of add-ins of interest:

Yeah...that is why most people create their details in Revit.  You can save your details to a container file for later use too.

Linking of CAD is best used for collaboration....not for design.  Hence the lineweight issues.  Wait until you start noticing that your leaders are missing the arrowheads in your details. 😉
