You need to read the error messages that Revit gives you, and proceed to do that. In the error message, it says that the drawing may be unloaded. Then, go to Manage Links, click on the name of the file, and click on Reload.

@Anonymous Hi

  1. you are linking the CAD section Origin to Origin
  2. you have, in the properties palette of the Revit Section view checked the option "crop view"

Your are getting the message that it is not visible in that view because it is outside the crop region. You can do the following

  1. on the properties palette >> uncheck the option "crop view"
  2. ZE to zoom extents then move the linked dwg section to where you want it to be (you might need to unpin it first)

OR

link the dwg using center to center instead of origin to origin

either ways...you will need to delete the multiple instances which you have already placed in your above attempts : o)

hope pe the above helps

Cheers and good luck

@RDAOU

1. I have deleted previous instances or linked dwgs

2. I have linked the dwg using center to center

3. Crop options unchecked

After those above, still cannot see the dwg linked and error messages appear..

It's a section view and you linked the CAD file like a floor plan, placed it on one of the floor level (yellow highlighted below).  Try checking the Current View only box instead:

Autocad DWG's are drawn in the XY plane...Revit recognizes that and it won't be shown in an XZ or YZ plane in Revit.

Insert the DWG into a Detail Item...then insert into Revit so the whole XYZ coordinate system is ignored and it is view specific.

That certainly works.   The same with checking the Current View Only box, you can insert a CAD drawing directly on any view regardless of view type.

I tried but still doesnt see the cad drawing.

I saw in your screencast that you are linking the cad in an elevation view, I am doing it in a sheet view, not sure if that makes a difference..

Thanks

Create a brand new elevation, not duplicate from the old one, and try
again. If it works, compare the properties of the two elevation views.

Okay... this last video shows you linking in the file with the This View Only option checked. And you did NOT get the error notification.

So it's there.

Now uncrop and view extents.

@chrisplyler

It worked with center to center but now the linked cad drawing is hidden in the background, even difficult to select it and

how do I bring it front?

Thanks

You don't bring it to the front. You set your view to Wireframe mode if you want to see through your model.
