lines not displaying as expected in linked DWG

I have linked a DWG into a revit project into a particular view. The DWG already has the visibility of its layers set as desired. Once imported there are some lines that are not displaying that are on layers that are turned on, and there are some lines that are displaying that are on layers that are turned off. This happens whether the layers/levels import setting is set to all or visible. What gives?

Scratch that.

I don't know what to make of it.  Can you post the file? Maybe a second pair of eyes will discover?

Have you imported or linked the DWG into the model before?  If so, this happens when the layers are already seen in the model and have a setting from a previous import or link.

In the view you have the DWG in.  Go to Visibility Graphics (or View Template).  Once the Visibility Graphics screen opens select the Imported Categories tab.  Find the DWG that is linked or imported in and click the + sign to the left of the name.   Find the layer(s) in question and adjust the display.

For some reason Revit holds onto the layers and how they appear on the first insertion of the DWG.

Hope this helps you.

Turns out there were xrefs that were not visible in the dwg, but displayed in Revit. I went another route and bound the xrefs, exploded the resulting blocks and deleted the lines I did not want.
