Line type from AutoCAD to Revit 2019

Hello

Does someone have an easy system or a white paper for moving a large number of AutoCAD (Already Drawn) "Standard Details" into Revit.  Ideally I would like to minimized the number of line types, have the AutoCAD lines show their actual line weight, and convert all of the CAD line types to a Revit line types.  

We have many to do and it is a monotonous process.

Dear Nardo, 

Thank you for contacting Autodesk support.  

You can import your CAD drawing as a link into Revit and it should show the line types as you would see them in AutoCAD. If you need to replicate specific Line Pattern in the revit, you'll have to create it in Revit under Manage tab » Additional Settings ▼ Line Patterns, and click "New".

There is no easy button for this. The AutoCAD content is going to dictate how smoothly it can go. If the details are kept to good standards you can develop a workflow to speed up the process. If the standards are inconsistent it is going to be more difficult as each detail will have to be thoroughly gone over to bring them up to good standards either in AutoCAD before converting or in Revit afterwards.

What I see is either all thin black lines that are all the same weight or colored lines.  I want black and white lines with correct line weight and style.

Lineweights do not import.

Please note that importing objects from AutoCAD is not recommended unless you know what kind of mess that makes and how to clean it up.

Revit will read the lines from a DWG based on the layer, not the color.  It will also ignore if a line is changed to a specific width (polyline) in the properties.  This is also why leaders will not show when linked into Revit.

If you don't have the time to create the details in Revit, keep them in CAD until you do have time.  Don't just trace lines and add fills over those lines.  Instead use intelligent detail items (basically blocks in CAD) and line based elements that are smart instead of just dumb lines and patterns as you can tag the elements instead of having to type the same thing over and over again.
