Hello everyone. Could you give me any ideas how to get the line based family in a Ceiling category. By default it's not allowed. I know the way how to get a family in any category in Generic model template using IFC export procedure. But I need the Line based family and it's can be achieved with an IFC method which I know.  Any advises ???

You are right!

So I need to go with Structural framing template.

And again I need to go with the Ceiling category.

Dear Mr.Barthbradley

Please do some research about what do I mean when I write "Two clicks on placement". This the crucial difference of the line based family from all others. And I need it

Where do I go to research this?  Is is under Ceiling Category?  Smiley Wink

Hey @maksym, how's it hanging?  Find that Loadable Line-Based Ceiling Category Family yet?

So what are you going to do then?  Quit the client?  Or, educate them?

@j0hnp can you work some of your Dynamo/API magic to help this guy out?

Unfortunately, I had not seen this reply until now as I don't frequent these forums a lot. Sadly @ mpwuzhere , this is still not doable in the Revit API. We miss you and think about you all the time man. 😞

If I ever find a way for this to be done, this is a thread I will update.

Hi @m.shcheblykin ,

I am not sure if this will solve your problem but this would be my workaround.

The youtube link below is how to create a loadable family having ceiling category.

- Once you've created the family, make it a "shared" family and then load into "generic category-line based template". It will now be nested.

- Then load into project and create the edges.

- Then create a schedule/quantities for ceiling category and it will show you the ceiling edges you created.
