Line based arrayed family hosted on profile

Hello everyone,

Is there any solution for following task:

Given a family (generic model line based) of arrayed profiles (as nested fam.) - see below. Family should be hosted on a pillar (circular hollow section)

Family has following parameters:

a) distance from the CHS profile axis

b) number of instances of profile

c) length of single profile

It seems like a circular profile does not have any face I can put this family on... 😕

Hi! You should use face based template (Generic Model face based.rft) to place your family on the surface of a pillar.

Thank you for your reply, I tried that already but I'd like to select start of the pillar and it's end (set start and top offset of first and last element - see pic below) without having to manually enter lengths of arrayed elements etc.

1.pngMaybe are there other methodes for placing arrays on a profile? (Not only by its face, but also attach it to its axis or something like that ?)

In this case, I know only one way - an adaptive family with placement points.

Just spit-balling here. Is the pillar a model family? If so, maybe nest the array into the pillar??? Drive array with Pillar Parameters.

Adaptive family would be my choice as well.  If you want to stick with a line based family, you would have to create a reference plane intersect with the pilar to host the family.
