Lighting Settings Grayed Greyed Out

Hi -

I would like to show shadows on hidden line architectural elevations, but I'm unable to control the intensity of the shadows, because that setting has been grayed out.  I read through a few threads on this topic without finding an answer.  I'm accessing these settings via a View Template I've set up, but it seems that no matter what settings I tinker with (detail level, view template on/off, hidden/shaded/realistic, sun settings) I am not given the option to modify "Lighting".  Somewhere, there's a master setting for this (maybe the department of redundancy department) that's overriding these settings.

Any ideas?

Many thanks - Travis

Again, these settings are grayed out regardless of display mode - hidden, realistic, shaded - it doesn't matter which one is selected.  I'm presented with Shadows on/off in all cases, and I cannot adjust intensity.

Did you open that dialog from a View template? If so, you need to close it and re-open it by click the Lighting button in the View template settings.

Can you help with the Scheme being grayed out with or without template applied? (It’s grayed out in yours as well.)

Thanks!

I came here looking for the same answer.

I am in an Interior Elevation, not using a view template, and the Lighting Scheme is grayed out, showing that my scheme is 'Exterior - Sun only'.

The Project Browser has the view categorized as 'Elevations -Interior Elevation), so you'd think using the Sun would not be my only option, yet I can not select another scheme.  The lighting I have placed in my scene appear to be providing no illumination to the scene.

Orient a 3d to elevation then go to model display tab, the first from the top, and change it to Realistic.

That should unlock the lighting

Here looking for an answer to the same thing. I'm in a RCP with no template applied and cannot change the lighting scheme from Exterior: Sun Only. My view is set to Fine and Realistic

Lighting schemes are only accessible for 3D views via Render menu.  You can create a 3d view looking up, then you will have it.

Of course Revit only allows it in 3D views. Thank you!

  1. Place a section and rotate in in elevation view to be Horizontal pointing Upwards.
  2. Create a 3D and right click the cube then orient the new 3D to that section

This way you can render RCP ...same applies to plan views sections and elevations

your included image shows the lighting scheme as "Sun only" and it is grayed out.  How do you change this to include artificial lighting?

Set the view template to None.

Check under the render settings in the 3D view properties.  From there you can change the lighting scheme if it is greyed out in the lighting graphic display options.
