levels : on hilly site

Hi friends

On a hilly site, few buildings are placed on a different levels. Some are up and some are down.  Normally, there is only one set of levels with one reference point ( either project point or survey point )   which could be assigned to the Revit model, which is applicable to all buildings in the model. This is good for flat sites; but on hilly site it will create levels with odd figures for different buildings. It makes it little complicated.  

In order to keep it simple, is it possible to assign different sets of levels to different buildings in a project on hilly site, with each set of levels starting with zero with respect to immediate  earth level of that particular building ? 

What is the trade practice to assign levels on a hilly site ?

- Create a set of levels for each building

- Create a scope box for each building

- Assign a scope box to each corresponding set of levels

This also applies to grid lines and reference planes.

Okay, but how to begin each set with level 1 ?

Level names must be unique so you need to add Prefix or Suffix that can be matching your building ID, for example: Level 1-A, 2-A for Building A, etc...

okay. My main point is ....how to start each set of levels with 0'-0" ? Is it possible ? Is it possible to have a different point of reference for each set of levels ?

You could create a project for each building and then have a master project where you link in the buildings at the correct position.  Then in each project (building) the levels start at 0 but are positioned correctly for the overall site.

There is no way to have multiple sets of levels starting from 0 in one project file.
