Level Tags in Elevation

Is anyone else here feel like they are always wasting time fighting elevation tags in building elevations?

I need to show the levels on building elevations for both the construction crew and the design review boards around here.  I like to move them so they are off the to the side of the building elevation like this:

It takes an hour or more to adjust the 2D extents of every level tag on every building elevation to look like this.  And then when I need to adjust the crop boundary region, they all reset like this:

What a mess!  And a waste of time to have to do it all again!

Am I missing a feature, or has someone found a better solution?

Did you try assigning a scope box?

@libengan

Take a look at this recommended workflow from Autodesk:

Revit | 2d extents resetting after crop region

Also, as the grid and level tags adjusted in the rear view should be similar to the front view, you can save some time/frustration by using the propagate extents function for similar view orientations. This also works for plan views and between elevations and sections with same orientation.

Propagate 2D Datum Extents

Hope this helps,

Thank you both for your replies.  I haven't tried using a scope box yet, but I will on future tasks.  I checked that the 3D extents of the levels is not outside the crop region, and they aren't.  I wish propogat extents worked, but that tool has never worked for me.  I click it, and nothing happens.

In my opinion using so many Levels is not an option...the drawing seems too cluttered and I prefer to hide Level lines and use instead Reference Plans and Spot Elevations marks ( thus , it will look more as a traditional hand drawing) .

Levels are kept only for main floors..

In think there are too many Levels in your drawing...

That is an interesting thought.  Can you post a screenshot of one of your elevations?  If I am understanding your process correctly, that seems way more manual and labor intensive than using the levels.

Also, I'm assuming you're using levels for sturctural elements like "Top of Plate" and "Bottom of Beam" and "Top of Block" and just hiding those?  Modeling would be nightmare otherwise.
