Level Error: The name entered is already in use. Enter a unique name.

I need to add a level back into my drawing that was previously deleted. However, every time I try to rename a level I get the error message "The name entered is already in use. Enter a unique name." I've check my drawing by deleting any views/sheets that referenced the level and I have purged the drawing.

Any suggestions?

A simple way to check if a level is still in the drawing is by trying to
create a new floor plan using the "View" tabe in the design bar. If the
level shows up it is still there. Cutting a section through the center of
the building and making your view ranges very large might reviel something.

Doesn't this error message typically give you the object ID for the object
causing the error? If it does then you can select the object by the ID
number and delete it. To select an object by ID go to Tools>Element
IDs>Select by ID

Thanks, the object ID worked. It seems that there were some masking elements that were causing the issue. I couldn't see the masks, but the object ID allowed me to select them.....

thanks.

Welcome to the community!

You are replying to a nearly nine-year-old post.  That would have been a pre-ribbon version of Revit; the interface has changed a bit since then.

In more recent versions, on the Manage ribbon tab, on the Inquiry panel, choose the Select by ID tool.
