Welcome to the LEARN Series #1 How to create a family in Autodesk Revit

This is part of Let's Explore & Ace Revit Now with the primary goal of making Revit learning fun and simple!

 

I've shared a set of steps below for basics of creating a family in Revit

 

 Family creation in RevitFamily creation in Revit

 

1. PLAN - what kind/ type of family you want to create? Learn about the 3 kinds of families

2. CHOOSE -TEMPLATE - choose the proper template for your family

3. ADD REFERENCE PLANES - Add a plane and see Reference Plane Properties

4. EDIT - PARAMETERS & CONSTRAINTS - See Family Editor - Constraints, Parameters, Types

5. PREVIEW, TEST & LOAD

    GEOMETRY - Add geometry if necessary

    PREVIEW AND TESTING - Test your family if it's working as per your requirement

    LOAD YOUR FAMILY - Load your family in your project
