Joinig two different Wall which have different thickness and plaster

When I try two different walls which have different thicknesses their plasters doesn't connect each other.Is there a way to solve the problem without using Annotation.

I am adding caps thank you...

Hey

 

Yeah, when you draw the wall, you have an option in the properties for "Location Line" this is the part of the wall that you are placing when you model it. Looks like you have it set to "finish face: exterior" try modeling the wall using the "finish face: interior" option for location line.

It might not be as stated above, to check what you modeled it as, simply select the wall and look what the "Location line" is set to in the properties and re model it with the opposite setting (if its set to interior, re model using exterior and vice versa)

Are you talking about having the plaster wrap around the end of the wall?  If so, that's a property of the wall type.  Select the wall, go to Edit Type, and change the Wrapping at Ends parameter to either Exterior, Interior, or Both.

Okay, I think I've solved this.

 

Just turning on the wrapping-at-ends doesn't work. It doesn't wrap the problem end because another wall is joined to it, and if you dissallow join it wraps all the way across between the stud cavity.

 

I made a new family based on Generic Model wall based.rft. I added a wall closure plane parameterized with a depth off of the wall face. Set this depth to match the different thicknesses of your two wall types. I added a rectangular void that cuts the wall and is parameterized for width and height (in the project set it high enough to get cut by your view range's cut plane). Set the width pretty narrow and move it right over to the end of the wall.

 

For some reason it fails if I try inserting it into the curved wall, but it works at least in this case of one curved wall butt-joined to a straight wall because I can just place it into the straight wall without problem.

 

I'll attach the family after the screencast for you guys to play with or improve.

Ah... I fixed the problem of being unable to insert on a curved wall. I had made the outer part of the extrusion aligned with the wall surface, and so it couldn't make properly when the wall surface protruded in or out of the straight line, as it would on a curved wall. So I just moved the outside edge of the extrusion sketch further out of the wall. Now no problems. Can place it on a wall wherever you want, make it narrow, set the wrapping depth you want, and move it into place for a partially wrapped end that cleans up.

Meh. It won't work on a curved-to-curved joint. I can only get it so close before it errors out telling me that it can't cut joined geometry.

I would try a different approach. Make a wall of just the 'plaster' layer. In position 1 a just added a small piece. It will join on 1 side and not on the other side.

If that is an issue than I would make two separate wall types without the plaster (on the inside). Then use a second wall with just the  plaster and run it alongside the other walls (as in 2)

Yeah. That's easier. I was just trying to avoid contaminating any wall schedules, but it's not really a big deal to fix that if you even use them.

My usual method of doing this , works  for straight - straight ; straight - curved but not for curved - curved wall junction as you can see in my screencast....

I use a third wall  as conector . This wall has Wrapping at Ends option active.

but I want to say this: it is interestingly difficult to join two staight  wall  ( one is horizontal one is angled -not perpendicular) and a curved wall between this two wall.I always have difficulty to arrange this connection.

     For example sometimes I had a problem with arranging the extent of this three walls in the connection area.I mean ,such as,revit joins this three wall but I want the horizontal wall end beyond(pulling the wall end to right) and I want the curved wall begin behind.Or any other arrangments...

     Sometimes ,I have difficulty in joining this walls in the proper way also it is same in joining the plasters.

     I think this is an important point and should be improved immediately.We should inform the authorities immediately
