Join Geometry - swept blend

Hey,

so I'm modelling a handle to a desk right now and since it changes profile along its path and is symmetrical I have modelled half of it through swept blend and then mirrored it to create the other half. After that I joined them through "join geometries".

The only problem I have is that now it won't join together visually. When you try to select it both halves act as one object, but you can clearly see the line in the middle as you can see on attached screenshots.

Any ideas?

On the modify tab, select linework (LW), select <Invisible Lines> as your linetype, then choose your line.  This should make that line, invisible in the current view.

If you cannot override the linetype, I would probably just redo the sweep, you already have the profile, so you would just need to adjust the path.

I believe I can't select linework - I don't think it's avaiable when you're creating a family. Also I can't really override a sweep since I have 3 profiles along the way with 1st and 3rd being the same. Swept blend allows only to use 2 profiles. I attached a file in a post above if you'd like to take a look.

You would override the linetype from within your project.

You can use LW in the Project.  I don't know if that's practical though.  This looks like cabinet hardware. Probably be many instances of it in the Project.  You know, you may have to live with it. Revit can't remove all edges.  Just take a look at some of the stock Revit families, such as Mass Sphere or Dome.

True. Might be the easiest way in case you put limited number of desks in your project.

Though I'm wondering why it wouldn't simply join these two sweeps...

How big is that geometry in real life? Are you actually going to have views zoomed in this tight on it?

As long as the Tangent lines to the Middle Point will be not in continuity ( at 180 degrees) the seam line will appear in your model no matter if Joined or not. So if you want to have no seam , then try to obtain the Tangents on the same Line ( like the Splines do)

No, not really - I'm trying to learn the program better by modelling my place and trying to solve every problem that comes my way so I'll know for future how to deal with that. This handle is not a big issue, but some other geometry may be and then I'll know what to do.
