issues with Project Parameters using <Family Type> as Type of Parameter

Hello everyone!

I am trying to use Project Parameter assigned to certain Categories and use it to give them Required Fire Rating property.

So far I have been successful with that on Walls, Doors & Floors.

I chose use a Fire Alarm Device family with multiple types that I created in it and use it as a parameter so with the object selected I can choose a Type. As seen below in case of wall.

But when it comes to Structural Columns the same parameter doesn't give me the family types to choose. It's just empty.(see below picture)

I know it's an odd way of working this out but it's very convenient. Can anybody give an idea why this happens?

That method only works for system categories. Why don't you just use a regular text parameter?

thanks @jeremytammik for reply.

no changing property to type doesn't change that behavior and also I need it to be instance.

@ToanDNthanks for reply.

I'm trying to use filters afterwards to change these elements' color. using text would be very hard to manage in an office since I have to ask everybody to type in a certain way but if there is no other way I guess I have to use text.
