Issue with Roof Cuts in different Phases

Hello all,

I am having a very particular issue. I cannot have a roof cut in a different phase of the actual roof... So, the roof cut is shown on my existing views as well. How can I contact Autodesk to address this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Try join geometry and/or use Linework. Not exactly sure what the exact situation is, you would have to elaborate on it and/or share the file.

Sorry, I should describe the issue in a better way... Here is the dilemma: I have a sloped roof built in the Existing Phase, then in the New Construction Phase, I have to built a new dormer including the dormer roof cut. The issue is: the dormer roof cut cannot be changed from phases and therefore it is shown on every Existing Phase view even when is created in the New Construction Phase.

You can't use the opening tools and assign them to a different phase...they will always be the phase of the element cut.

Alternatives:

You can create a family that will cut the roof, that you can assign to a specific phase.

Copy the roof and assign it to a new phase and demo the old one.

However, It shouldn't be like that... If I have to make a material take-off the software will give me the wrong quantities...

For roofs it might be interesting to use parts, although I think it not always an available option. So if it is you can show original in the view for the existing phase. Perhaps the easier option is to cut the roof with an in place void (create in-place family, create void extrusion, cut with roof before exiting edit mode). You can use phasing on the cut (tab-select).

Ow, and another workaround could be to use design options. Really shouldn't be used just for that though, I'd go with the void cut...
