Issue with creating duplicate graded surface

Hi all,

I'm currently doing my topography phase for my building, I've set out the topography however i need to create a duplicate layer of the existing site to make room for the new building which i'm having issues with . This is the link to the tutorial my lecturer gave us to use (the whole scenario of what i need to do is explained a lot better compared to me) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zy0EFrlrUA4 i followed his instructions to the bone yet on mine i can only see the outline of the existing site even after i supposedly reshape the duplicate layer where as with his you can see the exisiting site in black dotted lines and his new reshaped site in the blue dotted lines. I'm also having issues cycling through these 2 views and can't even select the whole site properly (it only selects small random sections when i click on it). I've attached my Revit screenshots as wellIMG_2355.jpg. He uses the 2017 model of Revit whist i'm using 2020 however he claimed there would only be negligible differences between the 2 and i don't believe it was cause such a large and irritating issue like this, or have i in fact done the task correctly and i just haven't realised - which i highly doubt. Thanks in advance everyone.

I don't think you need a 5 minute video to describe the process.

1. Set your Toposurface's Phase Created to "Existing", Phase Demolished to "None".

2. Set the View Phase to "New Construction" and View Phase Filter to "Show Complete"

3. Click "Graded Region" on the Massing & Site Tab to activate the Edit Grade Region dialog box , and then click on "Create a new Topsurface exactly like existing one", and then select Toposurface and click "Finish"

Don't know what you mean when you ask "where is the view phase" -- but, by following the above workflow, you will

end up with two (2) identical Toposurfaces in the Project. One in the Existing Phase with Phase Created="Existing" and Phase Demolished="New Contraction", and the other in New Construction with Phase Created="New Construction" and Phase Demolished="None". The later is the one you modify by moving/adding points. When you do, cut and fill will be reported under the Toposurface's properties.

BTW: if you want a view that shows new and existing contour lines - maybe existing as red, dashed and new as black, solid - that representation is achieved through View Phase Filters. Do you follow?
