The pre-selection highlighting colors up all the elements I go over with the mouse,

I did not see it in the past with previous versions so it might be due to a setup or option to disable the feature.

I do not see any advantage in having this highlight just because i have move the mouse over it.....

any solution or set-up to close this option will be great.

thanks, Hagay

I don't think you can turn it off as it would be detrimental to tab select if you couldn't see what you are about to select. You can turn it off for links, pinned objects, etc by making them unselectable.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Can you confirm? Are you saying that when you hover over an element the whole thing turns blue as if it were selected?

If so, that is weird. That would drive me crazy.

...what Revit and Windows Version?

I'm still not sure what is being referred to. Please share a video.

The only thing that I think might be happening is that the objects remain highlighted without being selected but that's not normal Revit behavior so there would be no way to turn it off.

I am using Revit 2025.3 and the same thing is happening with me. When I hover the mouse arrow over any items/element in the project, it selects/highlights. Did anyone find a solution for this?

Element highlighting is integral to Revit. It's how Revit tells us what Revit sees as we move our mouse over elements and what we will select when we click. Without it we'd be flying blind. There is no way to disable it. You can choose a different color for pre-selection vs selection. I use a blue color for preselection and red for selected so I can tell the difference between those two conditions.

If you find a linked file is taking priority for pre-selection, then use the Select options to disable selecting linked models and/or pin elements you don't want to select and disable pinned element selection.
