Is there a way to use cut models created on curtan panel pattern family ?

For example I want to cut these tiles that are created in  curtain panel pattern family which are used as component on a mass.

I already tried making a void in edit mode but it didn't work.

The only way I have come close to this is making a separate solid mass and cut out the tiles using cut geometry tool but now I can't get rid of the solid geometry because the tiles would revert back to it's original shape if I delete it.

What about changing the wall's shape to omit that section the using Edit Profile tool?

You can put the geometry you want to cut in a shared Generic Model family.

In the project environment you can then select and cut the generic model family using a "cutting" family . [ family containing a unused void and  (family)parameter "Cut with Voids When Loaded: checked]

maybe I wasn't clear enough. You need to place all the geometry in a shared Generic Model family and nest that family into the curtain panel.

Here's an example using the Curtain Wall Panel family.

I think I should type the steps that I used so it would be easy to figure out what went wrong.

1.I went to new>family>metric generic model and modeled the geometry and saved it.

2)I selected an individual tile and selected edit family, then went to components>load family and load the above family into the project.

This is what looked like after loading  into the project.

If I just import the family,the family does cut through walls but it still wont cut through these tiles.

Use a Generic Model pattern based instead of the Curtain panel pattern based for the tile and you can use a face based family with a pre-cut void to cut each tile.

Are you supposed to select the cut geometry tool first and select the curtain model pattern and than select the void geometry?

I am unable to select the curtain model pattern after selcting cut geometry tool although I am able to cut through floors,walls ect.

Your roof tile must be generic model pattern based, NOT curtain panel pattern based.  Then you use just place the face based void on a tile and it automatically cuts.

It is modeled in  generic model pattern based but it still doesn't cut.So there must be something wrong with the generic face based family void that I used to cut.

Here is how I made it.

1.Go to new>family>generic model family faced based and modeled the void and exported in to the project after checking the cut with voids box.

You must cut the solid in the face based family with the void.  Do not need to check Cut with void when loaded, it's inapplicable here.  Load the family in your project and it will ask you to pick a face to place it, pick a tile and it will cut the tile.
