is there a way to attach the base of a wall to a roof?

Hi, I am using the attach wall top / base, but it to the top. Am I missing something?

I want it to attach the bottom to the sloping roof.

As you can see in the 3rd image it removed the part above the sloping roof that i want to keep. i just want the part above the sloping roof up to the flat roof

FWIW: You can also Attach Top/Base to a Ref. Plane (in Elevation/Section View).  

...and, if all else fails, you can always Edit Profile

BTW: I see your problem. There is no Roof (e.g. Target) to Attach Base to. Looks like when you created Dormer, you selected Exterior Face of Wall for your Sketch. Select Interior Wall Face for your Sketch to follow.  TIP: Change View to Wireframe.
