I have heard that there is a specific way to open revit files to run revit the most effiecently. I was told you need to open revit and then open the files from there. I was told if you just open the files from your file explorer that revit will take up more memory and run slower while you work. Is there any truth to this? Is there a proper way to open revit files?

Start Revit and open files from File > Open menu.

Open files via Windows File Explorer can start a wrong Revit version program and you are just wasting time cancelling it and doing it again.

Its just the peoples experience and how Revit works.

Consider you have multiple version of Revit and you double click a Revit file...

That's not gonna help...yeah

Idea is know the Version, Open that Revit .. and then proceed.

also most of the larger projects contains multiple worksets and people work on

central file.. and for optimum use of time, We choose which workset to open

rather just blindly click the file to open.

hope that helps.

Also the biggest reason is " no backward compatibility " for Revit version..

so if someone just opens a Revit file, upgrade it to newer version and save..

there's no going back except reverting to backup file and loose the work..
