No.  But you can do one of the following:

- add masking regions in the drafting view if the masked area is relatively small, or they may mask adjacent views

- use detail views to draft instead of drafting views

Would you consider a Solid White "Masking" Filled Region on the Sheet?  There is a trick for this, if you are interested.

- draw a detail line on sheet

- make a detail group, keep it on sheet

- place another group instance in a drafting view

- edit group and add filled/masking region, save group

Or you can place a stretchable generic annotation family with a solid filled region to mask anything on sheets.

It seem lazy that Autodesk would not provide an option for this feature.

I am not trying to throw mud in anybody's face.
But this masking is not a good alternative. It interferes with the adjacent drafting view.
This feature is necessary because some manufacturer provide details that look 3D but they are CAD 2D and the text needs to be accommodated and the scale and the limits of the drawing need to be updated as easily as possible without messing with all filled regions and line work.

Read the entire responses.  Nothing prevents you from using a model view (plan, elevation, section, detail) instead of drafting view then crop it.  using a mask on sheet may not be good for certain cases but useful for others.  Judging a tool because you can't use it personally is narrow minded.

Most of us (users in general) do not like to insert dwgs from manufacturers in our model space.

It is considered messy by all standards.  The neat way to do it is to keep the standard details in drafting views.

I am open to options, but that does not sound like a good one.

And most you do not understand why.  Insert DWG in a model view with current view only box checked in makes them drafting linework, not showing in your model or any other views.
