Inserting Views From Multiple Projects

I need to combine the views of a couple of projects together in a third project so that I can compile annotated sheets with the different views.

When I try Insert Views from File command, and pick the file, I only see a couple of views - there are no floor plans, elevations, area plans etc.

I've also tried Insert 2D Elements from File too and I get some of the elevations (not all of them for some reason) and of those which do appear, they look ok in the preview but don't copy across and I get the error:

"Some dimensions were not copied because they could not find a reference."

What do I need to do in order to get the views I need from other projects so I can use them?

Thanks

Link other projects in.  Create view and set the link display to By Linked View, then pick the view from the link that you want to see.

Is your view 3d live object, drafting object or hybrids? Drafting view objects is the easiest because you can copy the drafting view and paste them in the new project. 3d live objects and hybrids will be harder to copy since it is a live project. You can try right click and save to new file.

The other method I've use is print them as PDF and then link the PDF into the project.

@ToanDNI'm probabily going about this the wrong way but when I link the first project it goes me a seemingly arbitary level 0 and if I try and link the second project, it puts it on top of the first.

Also, when I try and create a floorplan, there is no list of levels from which to choose.

Have I missed something when linking the projects?

Move them to the correct elevation.

I'm still really struggling with this.

I have two revit models linked in to the project and it has put the site plan from both projects on to one single site plan in the combined project.

The elevtions from both projects are in the same elevations in the combined project too.

I cannot copy and paste any of the elevations in to their own respective elecations as I cannot create an elevation to copy it in to.

I also cannot create a blank floorplan to copy one of the projects in to either.

All I need is a separate first floor plan for each project, a separate second floor plan for each project, separate North/east/south/west elevations for each project.  Can you I do this?  All I want to do is import each of the floor plans, elevations etc from each separate file...

It doesn't appear you can create a floorplan or elevation in the combined project as you need the project model information to do this and that information is each of the separate linked files.

When you link in the Revit model, you can select the object within the link and press tab to select it. Copy it and paste at the same place. This helps when you want to copy over objects that is not in the same elevation.

- Create a new floor plan associated with the level you need (view > plan views > floor plan > uncheck Do not duplicate... box)

- VG > select a link > set Link display to by Linked view > pick a view

- Repeat for the other link

- For elevation and section views, you do need to place elevation marks and section cuts where you want them, then repeat the same steps above
