Inserting Family

Hi I am trying to insert a sliding external door from the national BIM libary.

its keeps coming up with the attached error.

Any ideas? How do I know what category the family should be in? I assumed with it being a door it would be in doors!

Without seeing the family I couldn't say what category it's been modelled in.

However you can load it into your project via the Insert Ribbon and Load Family (this will load in families of any type).

If it's not a door (and the warning seems to show it isn't) then you should be able to place it using Architecture > Component.

If you have a link to the family itself I'll take a look and see what the problem is with it.

Cheers

Without seeing the family I can not be sure of the reason.

However I expect it will be door for a curtain wall. Those doors can only be placed inside a curtain wall not in regular walls

That family is a Curtain Panel.  If you started with the Door tool and then chose the Load Family tool, you would get that error message, because this is not a Door family.  You would have to have a Curtain System, and then you could use this as a panel.
