Insert a Row in a Key Schedule

Is it possible to insert a blank data row in a key schedule between 2 rows that have already been numbered, or would you have to go with the row being inserted at the end and renumber all rows manually if you need a row inserted and renumbered somewhere specifically?

Hello @PhilvK,

It is not possible in Revit to insert a row between two other rows.

But what you could do is write a Dynamo script that does that for you.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Dynamo.

Not automatically.

You need to introduce another column [Group] to sort the rows in addition to the number column [Key Name].  When you insert a new row it will come in the bottom, you just enter a new number in the [Group] column for the row to bring it to the proper location.  Then delete the Key Name value for the same row and hide the [Group] column to have blank row in the middle of your schedule.

Perfect.

Thank you for that.

How are we 7 years past this and Revit still won't let you insert a row in a schedule where you need a row. The official statement for generic, non-model-linked, text schedules is a janky workaround.

The "Insert Data Row" button doesn't even follow the behavior described here. Rows are inserted at seemingly random intervals starting halfway into my schedule, independent of what I've selected (to tell it where to insert, as is typical table functionality)

This is insane.

Just let me make a table, jeeze. Extremely frustrating lack of what seems like obvious features to include.
