Incorrect formula for family parameters?

Anonymous

Hello all,

I'm using a Sybex 'No Experience Required' guide to the 2012 version in Chapter 17 'Creating Families' in the section "Adding Dimensions and Parameters to a Family" in Revit 2015.

I'm (supposed to be) at the part where I'm adding the formula "Width" to the family parameter "Height."

However Revit will not accept any capilization formation (to my knowledge)!!

Please help, I'll privide any more details necessary to get to the bottom of my issue...

Many thanks!!

Bianca

Revit accept Capitalizations, but they need to be consistent between the formula and the referenced parameter. What exactly does your formula look like?

I think you've got slightly muddled.

You should have one Dimension labelled as Height and one as Width.

I think what you are trying to do is add 'Width' to the parameter 'Height' before you have created a parameter called 'Width'.

So in summary create two dimensions and add a label to both - one called Height and one called Width.

No worries.

Now that you have it working, try adding 'Width' into the formula value for the 'Height' parameter.  this would be a formula in it's most basic state and would restrict the Height to being equal to the Width and vice versa.  After that, the world's your oyster.  😉
