Incorrect Family Geometry loading in Project

I made a family and loaded it to a project file. The loaded geometry shows a little incorrect. It doesn't show that same incorrect behaviour in family though. I tried figuring out, also redoing the whole thing again multiple times, but no success. May I ask some help, what might be wrong?

What exactly is it that looks incorrect? Can you be specific, possibly add a screenshot so I know exactly what it is that you see? Because when I look at the project and the family side by side, the geometry looks identical.

No offense @Anonymous, but it's not a very well constructed family. The only "good" parameter is "Mounting Height". The others you can do away with, or constrain them properly so they flex without breaking the family.

Incorrect Family Geometry.JPGThe sweep seems all well in the family. But when loaded in a project file, it protrudes out like this. For situations like this I have found a simpler way - of making a separate family of the Bib **** and loading it into the Wash Basin Family. But am posting here to find out where things going wrong in my construction, should there be a complicated situation like this somewhere else, where loading another family may not be best.

@barthbradley, offense not taken. Am here to learn and on the way document my difficulties so it becomes easier for others facing same learning steps. If you could offer some tips, I would grab them with both hands Smiley Happy

 

Intention is to make these families as light (small file size) as possible without compromise on parametrics, and renderings. Am learning my way up.

When the wall thickness changes, the sink flexed erratically.  This is the most common mistake when modeling wall based family.

I would approach modeling the family like this:

- model the faucet as a plumbing fixture family.  It can be face based, workplane based, or non-host, doesn't really matter much.

- model the sink as a plumbing fixture, non-host.  

- load the faucet in the sink family, place it on the sink and constrain it

- it should be enough if you don't need the family to be wall based, and manually constrain it in project

 

- if you do want a wall based solution, create another wall base plumbing family, no geometry

- load the sink above in and constrain it to the reference plane on the placement side of the wall

- load this wall based family in project and I guarantee you are free of constraint errors or geometry shifting unexpectedly
