importing Inventor to Revit

Hello there, I'm tring to import an Inventor model to Revit, but I'm unable to do so, after I import the component from Inventor using the BIM Content Environment and parameters checked as key, my component not only is read by Revit kind of like a block, but also there's any parameter . What am I doing wrong ? Both Revit and Inventor are the 2022 versions.

Thanks

You are not missing anything...From what it looks like in the image you are referring to Revit family and not Revit project. If that is the case, you do not need to import, you can export the elements directly as Revit components ... meaning .rfa file

I am not sure what you are expecting as a result when you open the Family, but you should note that the exported components/parts from Inventor are translated to objects with embedded info/parameters you have defined in Inventor...They are considered as native Revit components but that does not mean that in Revit you would be able to modify length/width of an object by editing the value of a Length or Width parameter.

I was hoping that the parameters would work like parameters are suposed to, with editable different values, because if thats not the case, It means Inventor cant export parameters to Revit, since I would need to go back to inventor to change my component and reload It into revit, lol.

The process was not intended for some to rip the work of others with a simple export 🙂 it was designed more for Coordination and Clash detection... the parameters would be there but not live links that control the object.

By standard definition that is 100% sufficient for a BIM component

Have you try export inventor as RFA. Then open that RFA into Revit

Exporting BIM components/parts from Inventor to .rfa does not make the family parametrical. The soul purpose of that feature is coordination and clash detection no more no less

The export simply creates a Family with an imported .IAM object inside.  Dimensions of the component cannot be changed parametrically as anticipated by the OP unless

  • Either the import is exploded, re-constrained and parametrized (assuming whoever modeled it in Inventor took into consideration that it will be exploded and modeled the parts accordingly)
  • Or recreated as a Revit family..
