Imported family issue

Hi All,

I have imported a Revit family from a bim website. The imported family is ok in any 2D view however when I look at it in a 3D view it shows as a wireframe model. Any ideas why this is?

If I toggle reveal hidden it shows how I want it to show. Toggle Reveal Hidden - Family shown correctlyToggle Reveal Hidden - Family shown correctlyGeneral 3D view - Desk wireframeGeneral 3D view - Desk wireframe

Looks like it was probably modeled in another program.

As I say to everyone here, the best way to get quality families is to model them yourself. You CAN find good families online, but its usually a struggle.

if you select the family and pick Edit Family from the ribbon, ill bet it is one object in the family. if you look at the properties, after selecting it, it will probably tell you its an imported object or a DWG or some other format as @mhiserZFHXS mentioned.

I see this ALL THE TIME from the content my designers download. venders already have the content in Sketchup or 3DStudio or some other program.  So instead of making the family correctly, they import it into an RFA and call it a day.  We have a review process in my office for downloaded content. Anything downloaded has to be submitted for review before being used. I usually end up remaking 75% of them 😁.
