when you go to Insert-> Link CAD, you can directly link SketchUp files into Revit.

Doesnt this work correct for you, and therefore you preffer to use another format ?

Assuming you have the Pro version of SketchUp, i guess the FBX works very well for Revit.

(Edit: I needed to add some info)

Use this plug-in running on Revit 2015, and then use FormIt (Free) to help with the conversion

Plug-in: http://formit360.autodesk.com/blog/formit-converter/

FormIt: http://formit360.autodesk.com/app

here's what the plug-in does:

  • Convert SketchUp SKP files for use within FormIt
  • Convert Revit RFA files for use within FormIt. These files maintain their category and identity so that they can be converted back to the proper RFA later.
  • Convert FormIt 360 files to RVT and re-place any RFA files from local sources.

So here are the steps fro the cleanest way of getting a SKP into Revit:

  1. Convert SKP to FormIt using plug in
  2. Open FormIt
  3. Insert converted SKP file (now an AXM file) into a FormIt session, using the Library tool
  4. Save FormIt file (AXM) to A360 Drive (or export AXM locally from FormIt)
  5. A360 Drive will "cloud convert" AXM to an RVT OR use the Convert Plug-in again in Revit to locally convert an AXM into an RVT

Here's why you get the error message - Revit will directly insert Sketchup8 files. That is why you got the error message. If you open your file in Sketchup and save it back to Sketchup8, you will not need Formit at all. One less step.
