IFC export BUG!

So in Revit 2021 there is a bug related to whether or not you have flipped a family object after placement. It will render wrong and not cut out of the wall in your IFC export properly. Example.jpg

And you have to delete the windows and manually place the windows again and make sure they haven't been flipped to display properly. On some walls I was unable to fix the bug, perhaps since the wall itself may be was flipped as was making it? needless to say, this is super annoying and cumbersome to deal with and I would urge Autodesk team to sort out this bug asap. Sorry if there already is a fix to this problem, if so please point me in the direction.

Ive already updated my revit and installed the IFC addon on Autodesk webpage.

Hi,

I've created a Project with our own build windows, mirrored, flipped (In/out, Left/Right) rotated etc...

And a IFC export of flipped families cut out the wall correctly.

Can you share a Project File and the generated IFC.

Sure, I uploaded the file here in attachments. Those families that I am having issues with is of my own construction.

Feel free to open them and see if the problem lies there. But others on my team and having the same error, and it was actually a guy on a facebook group that tipped me off to the "flipped" issue.

A colleague of mine is not experiencing the same problems, and she seems to be running a 2021.1.1, while I am running 2021.1.2.

Hi,

The project export fine to IFC, but I haven't installed the 2021.1.2 update yet.

I'll see if can install the Update later and try the Export again.

Yeah, from some testing, it seems that this is a 2021.1.2 problem.

So a temporary solution would be to downgrade to 2021.1.1

But I am having some trouble reinstalling Revit without ending back up to 2021.1.2

I'm quite sure this is a real problem as it is replicated across my team, also with families from more reliable sources than the ones I've made myself.

Thanks for looking into it

Hi,

I had time to install the update and run the IFC export again.

Used the "ANKO - IFC export" setup, only thing I changed was Coordinate Base to Project base point.

Export result same as before the update, opening (as far as I can see) are ok.

The 2 exported files are same size to the last byte, so don't think the update has anything to do with it.

I think this was the corner that went bad?

Compare the Version numbers of Revit and the exporter, any difference?

You don't have any addins running that could interfere with the export?

I did a total new install of Revit, the addons I have are As-built FARO, and Focus (mostly templates and families).

I also purged my entire Revit related installs on my computer, mostly was old Revit 2020 stuff.

But I did manage to export IFC successfully now without the errors, It was not related to the corner as I managed to fix the windows by placing them without flipping them, and still get a good IFC even with the problems I was experiencing. I still had problems with all those doors on the inside.

To repeat it's all working as it should now, with the fresh install. Not sure what caused the bug as I had not really installed anything other than Revit hotfixes etc, from the Autodesk desktop app.

But it seems that you are correct and that its inherently nothing wrong with Revit, and the IFC export does work.
Perhaps if you are experiencing the same problem as me, remove everything and do a fresh install.

Hi

im having the same bug as mentioned here, also did a complete re-install of Revit without any luck.

Anyone got a clue?

i have sent my rvt. file to support at Focus software and they exported the file without any bugs.

we also ensured that our setup was identical, they even sent me their IFC class mapping txt. file.

Export local:

Skjermbilde IFC min laptop.PNG

Export Focus:

Skjermbilde IFC export Focus.PNG

Hope anyone has a solution to this! its a big problem when constantly exchanging IFC files with other disciplines.
