Guys, I thought I can master the if function with yes/no parameter and move on to new year with my chin up. Wrong !!!

  • I downloaded this simple roof slope annotation, attached, added "opposite similar" and "existing" as y/n with a "if" switch. I hope you can see the pix clearly.

To my surprise, the "op" works, but the "e" returns a "yes". (same work routine. Where have I been wrong ?

This family has no formula.

What's the formula?

proper formula syntax is: Text Parameter =if(some parameter other than text, "opposite similar", "existing")

"some parameter other than text" could be an Integer or Number parameter.

e.g. =if(some parameter other than text>1, "opposite similar", "existing")

I think you are overcomplicating the family.  It is not a tag family so there is no reason to control the visibility of SIM.OPP. and (E) using labels.  You can just assign a visibility parameter directly to the text.

Actually, I don't think it's complicated enough. He really needs to let down his hair and channel his inner Rube Golberg on something like this contraption: Whatcha think?
