i can see the chairs on my table in floor plan view. tried changing

visibility.

If you don't want to see your chairs, your probably need to go into visibility graphics and uncheck furniture under model categories.

Could it be that your visual style is set to wireframe?

Change it to 'hidden line' for example.

Edit the table family and make a mask region that will hide all those chairs in one row

If they are 3d then edit the family and turn on 3d element for the table on plan/RCP.  Or draw a masking region in the table family for the table plan presentation at a ref plane higher than the back if the chair (highest point of them chair).
