How to Share Coordinates With Cloud Models

We are having some issues with the coordinate system on one of our projects. The building expansion doesn’t line up with the existing when brought into the model. When acquiring the shared coordinates to our host model of the existing building and trying to  pull in the expansion it states that they do not share the same shared coordinate system. Are these simply not on the same coordination system or is there user error somewhere? The linked models are all cloud models and so is the host/central model.

Reset Shared Coordinates in the Building Expansion model prior to Acquire Coordinates from the Existing Building link.

Both the Expansion and the existing buildings are cloud models that are to be linked separately into a central model for coordination. These have both been received from the architect. Will it still be the same workflow? Just want to be sure we're on the same page

Without going into the details, Yes it is possible ... The whole process documeted by Autodesk support and Learning in the below link. Take the time to read it and see what applies to your model(s)

The reset /re-acquire shared coordinates workflow is the same.  The only difference is you cannot publish coordinates but it appears you already know it.

Do you have access the master model?

  1. - if yes, then link it to existing building model using shared coordinates.  is it placed at the correct location?
    1. - if yes, then the existing building model share the same coordinates, nothing else needs be done to it.
    2. - if no, then reset shared coordinates, reposition the master link to the correct location, acquired coordinates
    3. - repeat for the expansion building model
  2. - if no, then ask the architect to confirm which model has been acquired shared coordinates from the master model correctly, then link it to the other one, reset / re-acquire coordinates similar to above

Normally the architect is in charge of the above steps if he/she owns the existing and expansion building models.

You are welcome...  as stated it covers the full topic so you can read through to see which part is applicable. Besides it is a good read for general info : o)  and unless one is a able to share the model such reference articles are better than guessing and if/then scenarios
