How to separate different elements to different users

Hi created a model for a FM team.

One person on the team is a revit user, knows their stuff and is only interested in moving walls and doors.

The rest of the team are not so familiar, and are only interested in moving furniture and changing room names

How do I get these two to use the same model however making sure the rest of the team dont move a wall accidentally!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Aidan

Look into using Worksets in Revit (Collaborate Tab).

Create a workset for furniture and one for Walls/doors and whatever else you don't want the furniture people to edit.

Have the Wall guy make himself the owner of the walls workset and put all walls doors and anything else on that workset. You can see and change what workset modeled elements are on by selecting an element and scrolling down to Identity Data in Properties.

Put all the furniture on the furniture workset.

Anything on the walls workset will only be able to be edited by the owner of the workset until he relinquishes ownership.

Okay thanks

And in this way they both open the same model to use?

I have all the information already in the model, so will it be possible to put them into worksets now?

Can I put rooms and room tags into the model also?

Regards

Aidan

Yes you can assign elements, including Rooms to worksets after modelling them.  When an user checks out a workset, other cannot edit elements in that worksets until granted permissions.

It says:

Use worksharing when you are working with a single model (one RVT file) that will have multiple team members working on it.

The model I am using has another linked revit file. How will this affect my work sharing? is it still possible to work share in this way

As stated you can select a modeled element and change the workset it is on in the properties, or you can also select the workset you are working in using the ribbon at the bottom and anything you draw or place will be on that workset.
